Volunteer Center of Lubbock's Cornucopia Luncheon
2006 "Get Involved" Individual Community Service Award Honoree

Crystal Edwards

The Junior League of Lubbock was proud to nominate, through the Volunteer Center of Lubbock, one of it’s own for her outstanding community leadership and involvement as a volunteer. Our very own Crystal Edwards was awarded this year’s “Get Involved” Award for Individual Community Service.

On November 8th Crystal was recognized at the 10th Annual Cornucopia Luncheon. Crystal has been a member of the Junior League of Lubbock since 1998. She has served the League in a variety of positions. This year Crystal was our Holiday Happening Auction Chair where she was in charge of all fund raising aspects of our auctions during our holiday market. This was the second time since joining the League that Crystal has served on our Holiday Happening Committee. In addition, Crystal has helped to raise funds through our Repeat Boutique resale store by serving as our Pricing and Stocking Chair two separate years. Furthermore, Crystal was selected as our Membership Training Chair last year during which she was responsible for planning, implementing, and arranging training opportunities for our members. The League has benefited greatly from Crystal’s talents, organizational skills, and generosity.

Crystal not only has given of herself to the Junior League but also to the Lubbock Area United Way where she served on the Board of Directors for approximately three years. The American Cancer’s Society and Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure have also benefited from Crystal’s volunteerism.

Crystal has proven that she can be counted upon to fulfill the duties of positions and then go “the extra mile”. She is passionate about the welfare of our community and makes Lubbock a better place for its residents and visitors. She continues to give freely of herself and her time. This is best summarized in Crystal’s own words:

“We have been given the gift of life and it is our duty to live it to the fullest. Many in our community will never know what that means. For me, it is working collectively with our volunteers, agencies, and nameless faces by giving my time and money to make an impact in the lives of others…my cup runneth over.”

Way to go Crystal …we are so proud of you.
